How to troubleshot Symantec Update definitions

To resolve issue you need to fully uninstall and then again install SEP on the machine. To uninstall use the below steps.

Click on the below URL to obtain the SEP SBE Cloud Removal Tools:

For running the tools on a SERVER (i.e. Windows 2008/2008R2 Windows 2012/2012R2 etc) Download and run the following tools in the order listed:

Clean wipe

SymantecRemovalToolExtractorV2

For running the tools on a WORKSTATION (i.e. Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 etc) Download and run the following tools in the order listed:

Norton Removal Tool

SymantecRemovalToolExtractorV2

NOTE: If any other Symantec products are running on the machine, there may be adverse effects to the other software, confirm with support before proceeding.

NOTE: These tools will require reboots, possibly 2 to 3 total in some cases.
